13 more days!

Halloween is drawing near. More skeleton clothes (he has at least 3 skeleton shirts at last count)!
Today's are particularly exciting because they GLOW!

boo! North playing in the dark with his light up rattle (from Adam, Angie, Connor, and Madi last Christmas).
We also got this cute bib today from our next door neighbor. A great gift as North has finally started to actually SWALLOW when fed cereal. This is real progress! He went to sleep at 7 last night, ate a little at 9, then slept until 2:30! 5.5 hours straight! I hope this trend continues!

Yum!

Thank you Jaime for the "happy"!

North is a big fan of his new sneakers!
We all have matching footwear now! : )

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday daddy!

Favorite pastime of my boys.

And thank you Alan for swapping out the black and white panels for some of the color ones on North's mobile. I'd say he's a fan!

New daycare!

This week North started his new child-care at Campus View which is AMAZING! We're all so excited. It was his transition week which meant both Alan and I got to spend lots of time hanging out, getting to know the other members of his cohort and his 4 caregivers. Even grandma stopped by while in Bloomington on business and got to meet the class.
It's such a sweet and loving place with so much excitement and fun stuff to do. His 4 caregivers (4 for 8 kids!) Jennifer, Samantha, Mona, and Ayesha are wonderful and his classmates are such a fun group of kids. One thing that we LOVE about his new place is that he will be with these same kids and same caregivers for the next few years continuously, as campus view offers continuity of care. We couldn't be happier or more excited about his new place!

23 days until Halloween.

Trying Food (& 4 Month Immunizations)

Yesterday was a BIG day for little North. At 8 am, rather than being dropped off at daycare like usual, he went to the doctor. He was having a GREAT time of it until the immunizations began. 3 in the legs. Once that first needle pricked his skin he screamed so hard he popped a blood vessel on the side of his eye. Gave me a look to break my heart.
Thankfully the eye is healing REALLY quickly--just a yellowish brown spot now.
He got a bit fussy for the rest of the day. Low grade fever. Just generally, not feeling too well.
On the UP-SIDE the doctor said that we were definitely okay to start with solid foods. This was a welcome relief around the Milner household as it has been ages since any of us have gotten more than 2 continuous hours of sleep. Poor North is ALWAYS hungry. So--we decided to try it out.
It didn't go so well. Maybe it was just a bad day to try such a big change.
We tried again today and he still wasn't a fan of the rice cereal we were offering but he made more of a go of it this time around. Got at least 2 Tablespoons of the rice cereal/milk mush in (or at least onto his face & clothes) before he started yelling too much today. We'll get there eventually....

First bite of food -- can't you just see the joy?!

We persisted but he maintained his stance (crying).
Those band-aids are from the immunizations.

Even tried to give it to him in a bottle to see if that would help. No luck.

Today was a little bit better. He didn't cry until much later in the feeding process.

His faces still clearly indicated disgust in what we were feeding him but, he humored us and let it touch his tongue before spitting it down his own chin.

He even, very briefly, acted like it might be fun.

26 more days to Halloween!

Future blackmail photos...

Lincoln and North are adorable!
At the prompting of parents, Lincoln gave North some hugs and kisses on Saturday night. North willingly joined in.
Oh how the boys will love these pictures when they are teenagers. Ha ha!

Guitar...

Like father like son. North too loves guitars.

He would like it better if it would fit in his mouth though.

The countdown continues...27 days until Halloween!

This morning it was chilly as we headed to the Farmer's market.

Time to break into the sweaters and sweatshirts!

And time for North to wear his skeleton hoodie! Halloween is just around the corner!

Rare lovies from kitty

Ender, definitely loves North.

Petra, we're less sure about.

She's still deciding most days it seems. In fact, many days, we're not entirely sure that she's noticed we brought a baby home with us a few months ago.

2 nights ago though, she not only noticed that he was in the room with us but showed him some kitty affection by rubbing up against him. His cuteness is wearing down her resistance I think.

Get Well Soon G.G. Huff!

We also have gotten to visit GG Huff a couple of times recently as she prepared for and then began the recovery process following her masectomy.

North had a good time getting to see family and we all had a nice visit.

We were happy to see that GG seems to be in great spirits and to be recovering well.

Visiting GG!

Visiting with Great-uncle Dave , Great-aunt Lorie and first-cousins-once-removed Amanda and Matt.

Altrusa Chil Cook-off & Fall Festival

Several weekends back now, we had a fun weekend in which we got to go to an art opening with Sam & Levi at ArtsIlliana (no pictures), got to visit the Altrusa Chili Cook-off, and got to go to the Ellettsville Fall Festival. Great weekend of fun times with some pictures to share from it that until now I have been to lazy to post to the blog.

This was our first time attending the chili cook-off. We had such a great time that I think we'll have to try to make it an annual event. For a quarter you could taste each of the participants chili. There were lots of interesting and tasty recipes to sample.

Walking to the Chili Cook-off

Supporting our candidate of choice by sampling the voteforchange chili!

Hawaiian Chili (They even gave North a green plastic lei)

White Chicken Chili

After, the chili tasting, we headed to Ellettsville for our annual visit of the fall festival.

Kettle Corn

North watching the fun!

29 more days until Halloween...

It's pumpkin season!

North took his first trip to an Orchard. We spent part of Sunday at Anderson Orchard.

He wasn't so sure about picking raspberries.

He seemed to like apple picking though.

We also got to visit with our dear friend Sam for a minute on Sunday at her booth at the Street Fair!

Such a lovely day....
