Northasaurus!!

Only 5 more days until Halloween!
On Saturday North got to wear his costume for the first time!--so sweet.
And such a fun day.
We started off stopping by the Obama early voter tent to show our support and then went and voted early. After we drove up to Indy and met up with my parents to go to the Irvington Halloween Festival. So fun!

Getting ready for the day!

Go Vote!

Watching the parade!
Our favorite costume - headless horseman!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa!

Fun with daddy!

Meeting our candidate of choice!

Sleeping...

Many of you know that North has become nocturnal.
Although that's not really an apt description as that implies he sleeps during the day and he has pretty much just given up sleeping altogether. Is there a word for that? If there is, I'm far too sleepy to ever remember it.
Instead of sleeping, North takes very BRIEF dozes. We're lucky to get 1 continuous hour nowadays. Usually it's more like 30ish minutes at a go. Oh to have a stretch of sleep spanning a few hours. What I wouldn't give....
On Saturday morning I finally gave up for the day but Alan took a few more snoozes with the boy. So sweet.

Black cat!

Black cats have some special significance around the Milner household, what with Alan's current band bearing the name. North therefore has a plethora of black cat gear. On Friday he donned some of these duds and looked adorable (in my totally biased opinion).

Loving Loving Loving North's New Child Care!

One (amongst many) of my favorite things about North's new daycare (other than the fact that it's super close to my office and I can walk there for lunches) is the fact that they create daily "picture pages" that they post outside his classroom each day--photographs from the day showing what the kiddos did and the fun they had.
During this picture page making process, sometimes, the fabulous caregivers will send off some of their snapped pictures from the day to the parents at work--totally a day brightener!
Here are some that I got of North having fun at daycare today.

Happy boy!

Trying so hard to learn to sit up on his own!

12 days to Halloween!

Today we made our annual trek to Pumpkin Works--North got to experience the fun for the first time. Pumpkin works is a great place to get into the Halloween spirit--corn mazes, hayrides, petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and lots of other fun.

Posing with the Halloween-y picture props!Going to the Petting Zoo!

Pumpkins!

Belly!

Going on the Nature Hayride! (This was the first year we tried this one rather than the "haunted hayride") It was great! We learned about the trees in the forest at Pumpkin Works and saw some wildlife.

We learned about Sassafrass trees and how their roots are used to make root-beer. Their branches and leaves smell like root-beer where broken.

We also learned about Persimmon (or "Paw-paw") trees and fruit and got to sample some freshly picked in the woods on our hayride.

So fun!

New books!

We got some of the coolest books for N this weekend. Namely, ABC3D, Animal Babies A to Z, and Gallop! Great great great. I had been eye-balling ABC3D ever since the video of it showed up on Amazon for pre-order before North was born. So cool! And I heard about Gallop from a blog--such a neat book. I highly recommend all 3.
