Our afternoon....

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Too funny!
And random.
I'm sure you will all agree that the below resemblances are uncanny--Axl Rose, Jesse Jackson, Bow-wow. Practically doppelgangers for North it seems.

It appears that I have too much time on my hands while North is sick napping. If you do too, I suggest clicking here.

Don't bother trying to find the celebrity look-alikes for your pets though. I've already tried this and the software is too wiley.

Our morning.....

All of this laundry generated in TWO days! The boy is like a little volcano! AND there were still 2 loads in the washer and dryer when this photo was taken. Whatever will I dress him in? We're running out of clean clothes! Not to mention blankets!

First cold...

Well, it seems to be official. North is experiencing his first ever cold.
: (.
The weekend started out well enough--we all got up early because North got up early on Saturday and puked all over our bed when we brought him in to feed him. This should have been our first sign but, we didn't really think much of it because he's a baby and the spit-up thing has become sort of old-hat around here. Granted it was a lot of spit-up but, that seems to happen sometimes. And he was smiley and happy like normal so, we decided things were good.
Inspired by our current reading of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (thanks KeeKee, I got it from the library after reading your post about it--it's a good read!) we decided to hit the local farmers market and scoot about town to try for some Obama sightings (he was visiting a town hall meeting in Terre Haute Saturday--tickets were gone to those who started waiting in line in the wee hours of Friday morning so there was no chance we could attend but we hoped to experience some of our town's excitement over his visit). As we scurried about town we even got a brief visit with Nana, Grandad, Mimi, and one of Mimi's friends when we saw them at Goodyear getting a tire repaired.
Stroller-ing around the Farmer's market! We got some yummy hot peppers, fresh strawberry jelly, free-range pork burgers and gyro meat, fresh spices, and a few other veggies.

Yum!

Mimi & Nana & Granddad!

And THEN the real fun of the weekend started. Turns out our morning's encounter was just the tip of the iceberg regarding how much N would be regurgitating. Poor kid hasn't been able to keep anything down in 2 days and has a sort of stuffy sound when he breathes. We've called the doctor twice and as long as there's no fever and he's not showing symptoms of dehydration we're just supposed to wait it out. It's been a weekend of PILES of laundry, little bits of sleep, and lots of freak-outs.
Ender miming North--poor sick baby...

On the upside, we got home from work/daycare on Friday and found that some good fairies had left a super-cool tricycle for North.

3 months. 3 states.

Today North is 3 months old!

And this weekend he got a chance to visit his 3rd state (Iowa! where he went to Eagle Point Park; he'd already been to Indiana of course and took a trip to Illinois when he was 1 month old).

Each year we spend Labor day weekend at the cottage in Thomson, IL with Gigi, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Greg, Aunt Pam, and Cousins Kim, Nick, and Olivia. This year is the first year that Grandma Valbert (North's great-great-grandmother) wasn't there as well, having passed away at the end of October.

Here is a photo of last Labor day--the last photo that we have of Grandma and sort of the only photo with all 5 generations on Bridgett's side that includes North (I was 1 week pregnant when this was snapped). While Grandma never got to meet North, she did know that he would be coming before she passed away which I am so grateful for.
In the photo, starting at the bottom left: Row 1: Mackenzie & Nick Row 2: Olivia, Grandma, Gigi, Grandma Valbert, Aunt Pam Row 3: Grandpa, Bridgett, Alan, Papa, Uncle Greg, Kim, & Matt.

While it was sad to not have Grandma with us this year (she was missed), we all still had a great time and were so happy to introduce North to some of the fun things that the cottage offers.

He had a great time meeting his 2nd cousins Nick & Olivia, 1st cousin once removed Kim, Great-Aunt Pam, Great-Uncle Greg, and of course seeing Gigi, Papa, and Grandma again:

North loved Olivia!

Gigi and Grandma!

This weekend we also discovered a feature on our camera that we hadn't realized was there--the ability to take black and white photos while keeping only 1 color. Unfortunately, we totally abused this feature and so ended up with some wacky photos.

Pink!

Blue!

Green--a poor color choice for the pumpkin carving picture! Each year we pick a pumpkin or 2 from the patch. This year's was converted into an early jack-o-lantern in no time.

Visiting the deer down the "gold road". Photo taken by Nick!

North's first trip to the "castle" at Eagle Point Park!

Riding in the golf cart!

Laying out some pennies for smashing!

The train coming to smash our pennies! This is about 2 seconds before the train honked and North started SCREAMING!

North's first bonfire!

Hanging out on the Mississippi river!

Such a lovely weekend! We can't wait to go back!
