Trying Food (& 4 Month Immunizations)

Yesterday was a BIG day for little North. At 8 am, rather than being dropped off at daycare like usual, he went to the doctor. He was having a GREAT time of it until the immunizations began. 3 in the legs. Once that first needle pricked his skin he screamed so hard he popped a blood vessel on the side of his eye. Gave me a look to break my heart.
Thankfully the eye is healing REALLY quickly--just a yellowish brown spot now.
He got a bit fussy for the rest of the day. Low grade fever. Just generally, not feeling too well.
On the UP-SIDE the doctor said that we were definitely okay to start with solid foods. This was a welcome relief around the Milner household as it has been ages since any of us have gotten more than 2 continuous hours of sleep. Poor North is ALWAYS hungry. So--we decided to try it out.
It didn't go so well. Maybe it was just a bad day to try such a big change.
We tried again today and he still wasn't a fan of the rice cereal we were offering but he made more of a go of it this time around. Got at least 2 Tablespoons of the rice cereal/milk mush in (or at least onto his face & clothes) before he started yelling too much today. We'll get there eventually....

First bite of food -- can't you just see the joy?!

We persisted but he maintained his stance (crying).
Those band-aids are from the immunizations.

Even tried to give it to him in a bottle to see if that would help. No luck.

Today was a little bit better. He didn't cry until much later in the feeding process.

His faces still clearly indicated disgust in what we were feeding him but, he humored us and let it touch his tongue before spitting it down his own chin.

He even, very briefly, acted like it might be fun.
